"I have always thought of myself as a painter derailed by circumstance."                                                                                                     – Joni Mitchell

Paula admires fellow steady girl Joni Mitchell for her unique artistry and her determination to stay true to her creative vision. Recently, Paula tackled Joni's "open" or non-standard guitar tunings and intricate picking style, and rediscovered her "Joni" voice so she could once again enjoy singing the songs she recalled from her early days in the music industry.

On October 22nd Paula premiered a Joni Mitchell Tribute alongside pianist/keyboardist Aaron Andrade at Dante's, opening for John Doe.  The audience was enthralled by Paula's pristine vocals with the first few notes of the opening number, Cactus Tree. After the set, John Doe said to Paula, "That was a gutsy performance."

In celebration of Joni Mitchell's birthday on Nov 7th, Paula and Aaron played a lively Joni set at Music Millennium. Then, on Nov 9th, Paula and Aaron put their hearts and souls into several classic Joni tunes alongside other local performers in Women of Heart and Mind at the Alberta Rose Theatre. It was a nostalgic night of song deeply appreciated by the entire audience.
